  1. Oh, Happy Birthday! I'm more of a pie/tart person than a cake person, so these look perfect.

  4. Thank you for your kind comment on my blog. I love your photography and wish more people had talent with a camera. (Especially those who blog!)

  5. I love raspberries. Those look very yummy. Did you make your own birthday cake/tart? I guess you probably would do a better job than anyone else, right? Ha...oh well.

  6. Thank you all for the kind words and birthday wishes! I had a wonderful, relaxing, absolutely delicious birthday!

Michelle: I love raspberries, too. Those were picked yesterday by my Birthday Slave (who also watered the entire garden), and then I assembled the tartlets (recipe to be posted soon). I didn't bake myself a cake this year, but I did bake another apple pie and (because it wouldn't have been a birthday without chocolate) my favorite fudgy brownies. There was lots of ice cream and even some savory food (grilled homegrown steak, freshly picked beans, hot pain au levain. . .) Urp. Definitely a very indulgent day! :)

    Happy Birthday.

  9. Jet, Thank you!

Clare, Oh it was pretty fabulous. And I forgot to mention that of course there was champagne. . .

As for next year's party, it'll most likely be the same size (which I probably shouldn't admit after listing all that food, though you know my favorite food is leftovers)--just the two of us! :)

  13. I am so glad I talked to you on your bday. I love the pics. It is especially wonderful to see an open space farm from my cubicle in SF. It reminds me of my 3 yrs in the country. Amazing!

  14. It was my birthday too! Maybe that is why I like your blog so much! We are cut from the same cloth. Sounds like you had a great day of eating, I did too.
