  3. Thank you for that big grin this morning - so Daphne is a prankster huh? I do enjoy your animals - especially since I don't have to feed, worm, medicate, get 'em unstuck from the fence, clean up their leavings and generaly - I just get to enjoy your animals!
Wishing you and all yours the very Best 2008 - and Susan - was the white rooster one of Whitey's adopted children?

  9. Wait...I just read your great story about raising a lamb with all this love, but then I see "lamb burgers" as one of your recipies. What gives?

  10. Just discovered your site and LOVE reading all the updates and recipes.
I'm a part-time country girl /city girl. We have two donkeys, named Jenny and Zeenie. Between my interests in rural living, donkeys, home construction, and food, I'll be a regular visitor to FarmGirl.

    Thank you!

  12. So that's where that glove went! ;) May 2008 be filled with more humor.

  13. So....that reminds me. How did those donkeys come to live with you? I know, I know the story is coming "soon".
Best wishes for a wonderful 2008.

  14. So that's how Michael Jackson ended up with only one glove.

I won't lie, I probably wouldn't wrestle it back from a donkey either. Look at those teeth.

Meanwhile, she is a cute little thief.

  15. Wow! She really is a pretty donkey!
Am I the only one who thinks donkeys can be pretty? And I have seen ugly babies so it's not just an everything is cute kind of thing.

  17. Hi CGF,
Yep, that was my glove. I'd tucked them under my arm so I could take a picture of Dolores and Dinky walking toward the front field, and Daphne sneaked over and snatched it!

    Hi Anon,
    Thank you!

    Hi LindaSue,
Daphne is definitely a prankster. All the donkeys crack me up. People ask why we have them and I say, "They guard the sheep and entertain us!" : )

As for that New Year's rooster, yes, that was one of Whitey's chicks. And he's now about twice her size!

Hi Pille & Tim & CelticSpirit,
We do cute well around here! ; )

    Hi Maryann,
Happy New Year to you, too!

    Hi MNINS,
Thanks and thank you for taking the time to write. : )

    Hi Mike,
I did raise Cary as my daughter with lots of love, and I do in fact love all of my sheep.
But we also eat some of them--and it's the the best meat I've ever tasted. You'll find more about my philosphy regarding raising animals for meat (as well as a fantastic grilled lamb burger recipe) in this post.

But not to worry, nobody will ever eat my baby Cary! : )

    Hi SeattleBarb,
Welcome to the farm! Thanks for taking the time to write. It's always nice to hear from a fellow donkey lover!

    Hi Herb,
Well aren't you sweet. I'm okay, it's just been kinda busy around here--the usual farm craziness plus all those trips to buy building supplies at Lowe's! And here I thought I'd start the New Year by getting back to posting a farm photo every day. I should have known better! : )

    Hi Susan,
Humor is what we thrive on here!

    Hi Kristin,
I'm busted! What's funny is that just yesterday I was cleaning up my incredibly cluttered desk and drafting table and came across a To Do List I'd made at (get this) 3am on New Year's Day 2007 (I was already up, not still up, LOL). Sadly, it pretty much could have been written on New Year's Day 2008! But I have stopped saying "soon" as much. ; )

    Hi Finny,
She is definitely a thief. And definitely cute! I know, those teeth kinda scare me, too. ; )

    Hi Anne,
Great to hear from you. You are definitely not the only one who thinks donkeys are pretty--I know I do! And not just pretty, but extremely entertaining. : )

    Hi JCorn,
    Thanks!

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.
