When beagle Bert joined our farm family back in December, he immediately began hanging out with Daisy and Marta and working on his junior guard dog badge.

Now livestock guardian Marta Beast—who looks so different with her summer cut—has started tracking rabbits and going for her junior beagle badge.

Want to see more of our goofy but ferocious girl? Marta's fluffy white adorable pup pics are here, and there are lots more photos of her here and here.

© FarmgirlFare.com, where each dog has their own specific jobs, and everybody wants to branch out. There's nothing like watching a beagle trying to herd sheep. (Yep, Bert's going for his junior stock dog badge, too. We need to get him a little vest for all his badges.)

  1. So Bert's teaching is going better than Marta Beast: Isn't that always the way it goes.

  3. Bert's vest will be something to see! The rabbits,sheep,moles,chickens,sticks,eggs... he is great fodder for photos and I am always happy when he shows up!

  4. My first beagle earned his tugboat badge by baying whenever we came into port - the dog kennels were up by the stacks on the topmost deck of the ocean liner and he would bay when the horns blasted. He confused the tugboat and ship captains so much that for the first time in the history of this ocean liner they allowed a dog in a stateroom! Beagles are so versatile!

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
