I've seen several other zucchini bread recipes that use the same proportions of flour to baking soda, so I'm not sure why you're tasting the baking soda. Did you use 2 Tablespoons rather than 2 teaspoons?

I've made this bread several times, including just a few days ago, and it always tastes great to me. You could certainly try using less baking soda and see how it comes out.Farmgirl Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04851855517852917202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12997259.post-31754455328815598982013-07-24T12:40:45.164-05:002013-07-24T12:40:45.164-05:00I just made this bread and it smells wonderful! Might have to start over and reduce the baking soda by at least half. I'll definitely make it again...thanks for the recipe!Susan in VThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18253878546910869454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12997259.post-26743510287888213102012-09-30T06:55:08.495-05:002012-09-30T06:55:08.495-05:00Mmm! We don't have white whole wheat readily available here, so I subbed it half wholemeal/half AP flour and it came out great. The rosemary is distinct but definitely not overpowering. Next time I want to try it with culinary lavender instead.Stasianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12997259.post-1456097560499197032012-09-29T14:17:09.658-05:002012-09-29T14:17:09.658-05:00I've never heard of the skin being that thick....I've never heard of the skin being that thick. Due to the same squash bugs and dislike of pesticides, I rarely even get to see squash blossoms, much less actually fruits. I guess it's a good thing they aren't my favorite, though the bread looks yummy. jjhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07888046542540624921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12997259.post-86098857395583579922012-09-02T19:43:33.531-05:002012-09-02T19:43:33.531-05:00This combination sounds wonderful. I love olive oil cakes so I would love to try this (also a few too many pattypans (cough))
I can't get white whole wheat flour where I am - it's sounds like something I would really like to use.Elizabethhttp://kittycafe.typepad.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12997259.post-26806194314908987882012-09-02T19:04:32.665-05:002012-09-02T19:04:32.665-05:00This looks (and sounds!) so good.
