(And I'm sure they'll have more.) In the meantime, click here for a post that is cluck full of links to other priceless poultry moments.

Hi Nancy,
So glad you came out of hiding to say hello! Surprisingly enough, I can't recall ever being asked the surfing question--or the earthquake question now that I think about it. (There also happens to be a big fault in Missouri though there aren't frequent earthquakes here like in CA). The question I get asked most when people find out I am from California is "Why in the world did you move here?"

As for tips re retiring to a Missouri farm:

1. Bring a lot more money than you think you'll need.

2. Buy now. Retirees are flocking to rural Missouri, and land prices are going up, up, up.

3. Be prepared to live among some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Hi Tree,
Thanks!Farmgirl Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04851855517852917202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12997259.post-1161891312462912642006-10-26T14:35:00.000-05:002006-10-26T14:35:00.000-05:00lovely! But believe me I know how much work it is. I visited Missouri in the Springfield area many years ago and fell in love with it. Like you I was born and raised in California. Do you get the two questions I ALWAYS got from the folks in Missouri, on hearing I was from California "Do you surf?" and "Aren't you scared of earthquakes?" They were sure if you were from California you were a surfer! (I was not.)
I think of retiring in Missouri and getting my farm then. Any tips?

Enjoy the wonderful season!

NancyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12997259.post-1161873508229841062006-10-26T09:38:00.000-05:002006-10-26T09:38:00.000-05:00Good morning, here in Michigan it seems our whole ...Good morning, here in Michigan it seems our whole state is ablaze in oranges, reds and yellows!! I am so happy it's fall. It's my most favorite time of the year. I love the craft sales and scads of pumpkins at the Farmer's Market.
