And defend it with your life, just in case somebody is on their way to fill it. (photos taken 9/16/10)

This was such a fun surprise! My talented, animal loving friend Leigh Jackson, who creates the most wonderful modern dog portraits in her Noisy Dog Studio in Washington state, has finally moved out of the doghouse and into the barnyard. She has a brand new series of paintings called Hoofs and Horns, and guess who stars in her first ever donkey portrait?

Art Imitates Life!

That's right—Gnat and Esmeralda! You can see the photo Leigh worked from if you click here and scroll down. Little Gnat (who is doing great) was only about ten hours old when I took it. I think she captured them both beautifully, don't you? This original 18" x 18" work of art is available for purchase. Want to own some really cute, very low maintenance donkeys? You'll find all the details here.

Want to get to know Gnat better?

© 2010 FarmgirlFare.com, the art imitates life foodie farm blog where it's been 12 whole days since I posted any baby donkey photos. I was trying to keep the Farmgirl Fare homepage from being taken over by longears, but I started suffering from withdrawals. I think I need to get started on that new Donkey A Day series soon (which won't be on the homepage).

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
