  1. Hi FarmGirl! You've never heard from me before, but I've been reading your blog almost daily for the past year and a half.

Your pictures & writings brought me a lot of joy during an especially difficult time in my own life (when I was overcoming lyme disease). I wanted to say thank you so much for that! (Even though you had no idea you were having that affect). :D

Your blog is lovely and imo, very special.

Hang in there with all that heat and humidity :/. Maybe you can douse yourself with cold hose water while watering your garden ;) :).

Hope you have a wonderful week (minus the heat)!

  2. Hooray for Patchy! I [heart] black-and-white "moo-kitties."

FG, I imagine you have PLENTY of extra photos to last for several months...so no worries about posting pix. :-)

  3. Looks like Patchy has her/his eye on something perhaps scurrying through the grass!
Love your farm photos, and I would send you my cool breezes off the Pacific if I could. Not all of them, but enough to cool you a bit!

  5. Hi Farmgirl,

I am a newcomer to your blog. I love the photos and the description of farm life. I have'nt visited any farm in the US, but reading through your blog feels like a visit to a farm.

    Regards

  6. First let me say, I love your blog. I found it from another friends blog just over a week or so ago and I am loving reading your entries.

Second, I love bread and I have always wanted to make bread, but have been intimidated (in the past) by the amount of time that it takes. However, I have matured and your blog has inspired me.

Tonight, I went to a auction and was almost ready to go home and lo and behold an antique bread dough bowl came up! I won't say I got it for a steal, but it was worth every penny! I can't wait to get started.

Since I love all things italian, I think I'll start with your no need bread Italiano style.

    THANKS for the inspiration!

    Jenny

  7. As a native Californian living in the Midwest I can sympathize with your reactions to this heat. Indianapolis gets a break because the jet stream tends to dip this way once in a while. Those California summers trained us to work all day, and you could as long as you took a break in a shady spot. I now follow the lead of my neighbors and work outside very early or late. But it has taken me a long time to get to this point. I enjoy your work and dedication to your site. We have 44 acres,in Southern Indiana, of classified forest where I battle woody grapevine, wild roses and the ever increasing poison ivy.

  8. Hi FarmGirl!

Absolutely love your site and your photos!

As a Nebraska girl living in Southern California you keep me well supplied with wonderful memories of home.

    Thanks so much

  9. Hello Farmgirl,
I, too, have been a long time reader but I don't think I have ever commented before. I have always enjoyed your blog, the mix of daily adventures, recipes, and photos. I love the photos.
I started a new site a couple of weeks ago dedicated to bloggers and I have chosen your site as the site of the week.

  10. Hi Farmgirl Susan!

The heat's about to melt us here in Texas, too. That or the mosquitoes! All this rain has produced clouds of them, making me one big mosquito bite for a month now... :)

I'm writing to let you know that I tried your Blueberry Breakfast Bars and loved them so much I featured them on my blog. I suspect many folks will be coming your way to find the original recipe and pictures. Here's the link:

Thanks for such quality recipes, pictures, and blogging. You inspire me daily!

  11. Hi Raspberry,
Your comment made my day (even though it took so long for me to respond). Thanks so much for writing and for all your kind words. Wishing you well, and hoping you stay that way. : )

    P.S. Love the rabbit!

    Hi Miss Kitty,
You're right--no worries. I have all sorts of extra photos, including plenty of Whitey's baby chicks. : )

    Hi Crazy Cat Mama,
    Thanks. Me, too. ; )

    Hi Peg,
Well, we've been having a bit of a breeze lately (thank goodness!), but it seems to have heated up quite a bit on its journey from there to here. : )

    Hi Brit-Arnhild,
    You're welcome. : )

    Hi Nature and me,
Thanks for taking the time to write. That's what's so nice about e-visiting my farm--it's all of the fun and none of the work!

    Hi Jenny,
Yayayayay! A wooden bread bowl! How wonderful. Thanks so much for telling me about it. Now go bake some bread!

    Hi Laura,
Nice to hear from you. Yeah, it's very strange how much the heat and humidity just zaps not only your energy, but your desire to do anything. Suddenly I'll feel energized and ready to take on a dozen projects and can't figure out why at first--it's because it's cooled down!

I've tried in the past to take afternoon naps so I could stay up later at night without losing sleep, but I couldn't do it. It's like you finally feel energized and it's time to go to bed.

It sounds like you definitely have your work cut out for you with those battles. I actually love the wild multiflora roses around here because they're the only roses I can get to grow, but Joe and pretty much everybody else in the state despises them.

The poison ivy I can certainly live without. It did very, very well this year, as evidenced by the large patches of it I carried around on various parts of me for weeks.

And those woody grapevines are unbelievable. We have them all over, and they're always killing big, beautiful (and valuable) trees. Good luck!

    Hi Marvel,
Nebraska to Southern California--that's certainly a change. So glad you're enjoying your e-trips to the farm. Thanks for taking the time to write!

    Hi Rayne,
Thanks for choosing my blog and writing such a nice review. I'm flattered. : )

    Hi Brin,
Your blueberry breakfast bars are beautiful! Actually, by now that's probably 'were' beautiful. : ) Thanks for taking the time to let me know--and for including links to my blog in your post about them.

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
