Holiday Recipe Ideas for Breakfast, Brunch and Beyond: Muffins, Scones, & Quick Breads

Whether you're looking for something to serve on Christmas morning, New Year's eve, or for afternoon snacks inbetween, these seven recipes from the Farmgirl Fare archives are sure to bring smiles to the table. They're some of my most popular recipes, and all of them can be baked ahead of time and frozen. Click on the 'read more' link below to see the rest of this post, and click on each title to go to the recipe. Happy holidays!

Cranberry Christmas Scones
I named these Cranberry Christmas Scones the year I baked them all afternoon at a kitchen store holiday open house, but they're tasty any time of year. Buttery and crumbly and rich, try them for breakfast, brunch, or afternoon tea.

Lazy Susan's White Whole Wheat Scones with Currants and Oats
Lazy Susan's White Whole Wheat Scones with Currants & Oats proved that sometimes being lazy is good!

100% Whole Grain Ginger Pear Muffins
Nobody will ever guess how healthy these moist and flavorful 100% Whole Grain Ginger Pear Bran Muffins really are, unless you decide to tell them.

100% Whole Grain Blueberry Bran Muffins
My Original 100% Whole Grain Bran Muffin Recipe, sweetened with honey and molasses and inspired by my desire for a homemade bran muffin that wasn't made with storebought cereal. Easy and versatile, it's been one of my most popular recipes for years. There are four flavors included with the recipe (plain, blueberry, blueberry banana, and cranberry orange) and the comments section is full of delicious variations from readers. I love them split in half and spread with organic peanut butter and jam.

Spicy Pumpkin Pecan (or Walnut) Raisin Muffins
These hearty Spicy Pecan Raisin Pumpkin Muffins were a bestseller at my northern California bakery cafe. Men especially seem to love them. Keep a batch around for breakfast or snacks, or make mini muffins and add them to the dinner bread basket. Walnuts can be used in place of the pecans—or leave out the nuts entirely.

Easy Orange Yogurt Loaf Cake
I created this moist Easy Orange Yogurt Loaf Cake specifically to enjoy with the beautiful ripe strawberries that were in my kitchen garden, and then discovered it's even better with blueberries, but it also tastes great on its own.

Lemon Coconut Quick Bread
This Heavenly Lemon Coconut Quick Bread, made with unsweetened natural coconut (say goodbye to propylene glycol and sodium metabisulfite!) is sweet but not too sweet, dense but not too dense, pleasantly moist, and extra wonderful when toasted and slathered with butter.

Chocolate, Cinnamon, and Banana Mexican Monkey Cake
Technically not a quick bread, I thought I'd go ahead and sneak in this recipe for Mexican Monkey Cake because it comes together quickly and is always such a crowd pleaser. I never would have thought to combine chocolate and cinnamon with banana, but it really works! I've been making this cake for over ten years, and people always go crazy for it.

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
