Cute now. Not so cute 3 months from now when they've absconded with all things edible from the garden, because they've exploded exponentially and there are so many "cute" baby bunnies to feed. The only thing I'd dispatch sooner would be baby raccoons.
ReplyDeleteMy absolute least favorite thing abut country living is when the dogs and cats injure some little animal without actually killing it. The dead things I can deal with fine, but I hate the mercy killings of injured animals.
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable as babies - fun to watch from afar - a pain in the patootie from anear my garden. Our barn cat is a good hunter and since he can't come in the house - what I don't know does me no harm. Thanks for the cute though!
ReplyDeleteAaawwww! I finally started keeping our dogs out of the pastures in the spring, cuz one of them in particular had a gift for finding bunny nests. Another question for your ridiculously long list: how do you feed all these animals? Are you able to raise all their food as well, or do you need to purchase? We finally have our own hayfield this year, which will be an over-the-top blessing....

Baby bunnies ARE cute but, yes, a problem when they grow up. My little Peanut has dispatched at least 4 babies that we know of, but she leaves them for the cats to eat. And she is QUICK - no rescue and release for her critters!

At first glance I thought the cute baby bunny needed a bra...then I realized it was your finger.
ReplyDeleteIt is so cute! Could the new pups keep it as a snuggle toy? They love snuggles, you know, but you keep saying they are working dogs and can't have any. So can they keep the bunny???

ReplyDeleteHey, if you zoom in on your pic, you have one of those great eyeball reflection shots - I had one like that (see it on my header page entitled Imperfect). I always think it's kind of neat when that happens.

ReplyDeleteMy golden retriever brings me tiny baby bunnies completely enclosed in his mouth and completely unharmed. If I can't find the nest, I have to drive them two hours away to the nearest wildlife rehabilitator's house.
Yes, I am a complete bleeding heart. Yes, I realize this is the same animal as the adult rabbit I curse. But oh, the cuteness!
What a cutie-pie! Although, I think if you look closely, you'll realize this bunny is giving you the deathglare. And I didn't know bunnies could do that....
ReplyDeleteOh! My! We have one about this size living in our backyard with its mom and dad. We haven't seen more; it may be the only one in the litter to survive. But wow, how adorable. and in case you wondered, my garden is fenced.
