Monday Dose of Cute and Loss

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.
Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!
Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.
I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.
I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
My sympathies for your loss.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. Annette's twins are so adorable. I hope today is a better day for you.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry . nothing is adequate to say at the loss of a four footed friend. I shall cry with you and ask you to remember the good things about her.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry... life can be a roller coaster on a a farm...it is still quite sad when one loses a beloved animal... especially when they are cared for with love.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss. My beloved cat, Jezebel, 19-years old and calico, died in March. My beloved puppy, 20-months old and absolutely joyous, died in April.
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the very best.
Oh Susan,I am so very sorry for your loss and I'm sorry you had to go through that alone.

I'm sorry. That's hard. Very hard.
ReplyDeleteOh I am so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to read this. That sounds very hard. Sending love your way.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for your loss. I know it can be hard. Right now we have a ewe who lost one of her twins and we are trying to save her. It has been a week so far and we hope she turns the corner soon. lots and lost of TLC.
ReplyDeleteOh Susan, I am so sorry you lost Annette.
ReplyDeleteWhat about her twins? Are they big enough to get on without her - or are they being let in the house like Cary?
We lost our first ewe, Helen, on Friday after doctoring her for a day and a half. I'm still not sure what the cause was. Do you know what caused Annette's death?
ReplyDeleteI did as you and posted several happy pictures of Helen on my farm journal, but I still miss her and I know her twins miss their Mum.
Happy times to come...
I'm so sorry. My sympathies.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry - losing an animals is always difficult and one who just had beautiful twins is even rougher. Sorry you were by yourself also - dealing with the literaly dead weight is a lot harder than one would think. Cake for breakfast is a wise form of self medication.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. It's hard to see beloved animals suffer and pass away.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry abut Annette. She lives on in your heart and of course, Cary.
ReplyDeleteSo Sorry :( It is incredible the way that animals touch us, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteSo true and so hard. I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
ReplyDeleteOh no. So very, very sorry. More cake--stat.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so sorry. Farm life isn't always easy, is it.
ReplyDeleteSomeone once told me "Where there's livestock, there's dead stock". I get it, but it doesn't make me feel any less sad when I lose a friend. And you're always closest to your breeding animals.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else told me that real farmers do cry. I hope you have lots of her offspring and it brings you some relief (I'd keep eating cake as well though, just to be safe). Take care.
I've been following you for some time now and love your writing and pictures. It always hurts to lose someone you love - especially dear and faithful critters. Take care of you and hope you have a better day today.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about your beloved sheep. I too have been there with a Pony, goats, dogs, cats....
ReplyDeleteIt is always so hard but think back on all the good memories of her and your little baby that she gave you!
Susan, My sincere sympathies on the passing of dear sweet Annette. Although many see them as only animals we all know they are dear and tender personalities. I hope you look around and see Annette in the faces of her youngsters and of course Cary and that your memories give you reason to smile after the tears are dry.
ReplyDeleteDeath in any form of life is always an unwelcome visitor.. are the twins okay?
ReplyDeleteUs guys aren't supposed to get tears in our eyes, are we?
ReplyDeleteSorry

~DEAR SUSAN: I ALWAYS THANK GOD FOR YOU AND I KNOW THAT ANNETTE IS IN "PET HEAVEN."
ReplyDelete~WHAT HAPPENED TO ANNETTE, WAS SHE SICK?? I'M SORRY FOR YOU LOSS.
So sorry to hear of Annette's passing. Wishing your strength and happy memories!
ReplyDeleteI love your writings & they are the first thing I read every morning. You seem like a friend that is living far away. I'm so sorry for your loss of Annette. She was truly special. I'm so happy for your wonderful memories of her.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to read this. What a heartbreak. :(
ReplyDeleteWelp, I'm new to your blog and what a day to start.. I'm so sorry for your loss... and I cried..then I read about Cary and I cried more.. so now I'm a redeyed rednosed mess but feel blessed to have found your blog..
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you...
awwwww! I am so sorry! You poor, poor thing! I'm so sorry you had to do that all by yourself too! (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteMy deepest sympathies.
ReplyDeleteJudy
I hope your memories comfort you.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for the loss of sweet Annette. Will you be bottle feeding her little lambies?
ReplyDeleteLoss is the hardest part of farming, I think. Even when we know their purpose on our farms, I think we still get attached, and that's what helps us show our human-ness.
How hard for you! I am sure Annette knew how much you cared for her. It is such a helpless feeling to do all you can and know to do and then it still not be enough. It seems our time with the animals we love is never long enough. I always enjoy reading your blog - in the happy times and the sad ones.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. It probably isn't much consolation now, but Annette had a great life with you. She was loved, cared for, laughed at, and celebrated. That's a lot of joy for a housepet, imagine how blessed a sheep felt to get all that in her (too short) life.
ReplyDeleteSo sad... I hope you can take comfort in knowing that Annette was not alone, and that she knew someone was taking loving care of her right up until the end.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss. I hope things are looking up and her baby is doing okay.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for the heartbreak you are feeling and that you had to deal with it by yourself. Take comfort in knowing that you gave her the best life she could have had anywhere. Hope your hunky farmguy is back home. Tell him to give you a big hug from me.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you have some nice, sunny, cake filled days in the near future.
ReplyDeleteI'm so very sorry. You and all of the creatures there are in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry for you. ☹
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your loss. We raise goats and grow extremely attached to them - it's so hard to lose one. I still tear up over the two does we lost this year.
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry to hear. My sympathies to you all.
ReplyDeleteso, so sorry. Annette was lucky to have had you and you were lucky to have had her. You gave her a beautiful life, and she gave you hers and Cary's. big hugs.
ReplyDeleteOh how sad. I know you love them all as family....it made me really sad when I saw it was Cary's mom. It gave me a connection to her.
ReplyDeleteOh, how sad for you. I don't have words to tell you how sorry I am. Your posts and furry critters give me a smile every time I read your blog. I feel your loss. Not nearly as much as you do, of course, but I am hurting with and for you. I am so sorry you had to go through this alone. Snuggle those babies in her stead.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you at this time of sadness. I agree looking back at the good times is a good thing. Eating cake is always a good thing. (((HUGS))))
ReplyDeleteSusan I'm just getting caught up on this weeks internets world. I'm so sorry that we have lost Cary's Mom. She will always have you.

Susan-
ReplyDeleteMy heart felt condolences on your loss-from a long time reader/follower (like so many that stop by here - we know exactly how much this meant to you) . Susan from Naperville
My heart goes out to you and I'm sure that Annette's babies are missing her too. Life can really be a bitch sometimes, but then one of the animals senses something is wrong and then does something unexpected and funny and somehow we smile again. Love you, your blog, and all your lovable animals. Jeanie in Upstate NY
ReplyDeleteSusan - I am so sorry for your loss - I know how much they mean to you. I think it takes a special person to do farming.. my sister does it also and I am so sad to hear some some of the stories, they live in Texas and the snakes are the worst enemies to their goats and to their dogs.. :(
ReplyDeleteConsider yourself hugged from Texas!
Oh, sweetheart, I'm so sorry to hear.....
