Daily Farm Photo: 12/16/06

It's All In The Light

October 17th was, for some unknown reason, a really good day for photos. Here is yet another one I took then. And here's to hoping something interesting reveals itself around the farm soon, as I'm getting awfully tired of lugging around this camera and not using it. There are only so many pictures even I can take of Cary!

  1. Hi, Farmgirl. I've been dropping by here off and on a lot for a long time, but this is my first comment. Love your site. Love your photography.

Question - do you have any pictures of hay bales in sunlit fields? I love seeing hay bales in sunlit fields, but I live in coastal Texas now and even if I find a sunlit field with a bunch of hay bales in it, there's no hills or significant elevation change to really give me that back home in the Midwest feeling.

    Thanks!

  2. Ah, lovely picture even if from October...

There is one tree in our neighborhood here in Texas that is a blazing red still. It is so strange to have lovely trees in December.

We've had some cold days, but it was almost 80 day. I guess we have global warming to thank for that.

Your site is like a comfort zone to come home to.

    Thank you!
    SAndy

  3. October 17th is my birthday! Winter is kind of ugly sometimes. Any good winter sunsets or anything going on in the greenhouse?

  4. Wow! Suddenly it's like the radio station of gorgeous pictures and people are phoning in requests.

I wanna see my lamb! There are new shots of your kitten at my place. He's being helpful. In a three year-old or kitten sort of way.

  5. Hey Farmgirl... It's okay to have "off times" for photos. Maybe your looking too hard for something to get a photo of. I bet though, you have a stash of ones you have not been able to share because there were days you had more photos then you did time to blog about them. Dip into those -- share the day and I bet you still get everyone to sigh in delight at your keen eye for a good thing.

    Happy Holidays!

  6. Farmgirl, I love your pictures. It doesn't matter if you took them today or five years. Life on a farm beautiful.

  7. Hi Everybody,
Thanks, as always, for your comments. And to the many of you who left comments on previous posts (esp. the ones that included questions for me), please accept my apologies for not replying to them. I do love and read them all even if you don't hear back from me. And if you have an urgent question, please feel free to email me, as I'm usually somewhat better at replying to emails: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

    Hi Garrett,
Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to write. So glad you've been enjoying your e-visits to the farm.

Pictures of hay bales in sunlit fields? I just happen to have one handy (and I didn't mind looking at it now that I'm not out in the middle of that hayfield!). Click here.

    Hi Sandy,
We're having a freaky heat wave here, too. Nothing like going from zero to 65 in a couple of days. : )

    Hi Gauri,
I loved reading about your pita party. Sounds like a delicious success--even if one aspect of it did fall flat!

    Hi HappyLaney,
Happy belated birthday! I just hope you had your camera handy. LOL, I think I was in the greenhouse snapping some photos when you left your comment this morning. : )

    Hi KM,
Oh please. I email you photos of your lamb all the time. And of course my kitten (that lives at your house) is helpful. I would expect nothing less. All that and he's absolutely adorable to boot.

    Hi AzureLynn,
Yep, I certainly do have quite a stash of unposted photos. It's been interesting looking back each day and seeing what I posted a photo of last year at this time because there sure doesn't seem to be much going on out there. I think, too, some of it might be lack of sunshine--it's amazing what a little light can do to a very mundane subject.

    Hi Melanie,
Why thank you so much. I'll be the first to admit I don't take every single photo the exact day I post it (though a surprisingly number of days I do), but I figure I'd better offer some sort of explanation in certain situations--lke when it's a well known fact the trees are all bare and I'm putting up pictures of colorful leaves! : )

  9. Hi Farmgirl,
Just came across your website looking for things to do with tomatoes but got sidetracked with all that's going on, Love it!

We want to buy some land, not your size though, although I'm sure I could find something to do with it all. I like your sense of humour, a bit like me, keep it up girl

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
