© FarmgirlFare.com, the ear-splitting foodie farm blog where that whole thing about roosters only crowing at the break of day? So not true. And right now we have two. After a while you hardly notice it, though. No, really. Actually, the crowing almost always cracks me up—except when I'm trying to sleep. Then it just wakes me up. Over and over and over. Sometimes I'll turn a box fan in the bedroom on high and face it toward the wall to block out the noise—in the middle of winter. It works, but it drives Joe nuts.

  2. One stipulation on getting chickens - hubby said NO roosters. So we have quiet murmuring hens -the cluckinators. Very hot here today so I'm headed out to change their water and maybe spray the ground in their run to help cool - they are in good shade.
Roosters DO have an attitude don't they?

  4. Isn't it great when roosters learn to crow and it is just like a teenage boys voice that cracks and breaks! It was always great when we had chickens (broilers) when they would learn to crow because you would wake up laughing.

  5. I'm not a fan of any sort chicken since I was chased home as a child by a rooster pecking at me but...I have to say that is one really fine looking fowl. Cool coloring...

  6. His midnight crowing may be maddening, but man, that is one good looking rooster!

  7. He's cute and probably a very reliable waker-upper every morning.

  9. Frickin' roosters should come with muzzles. At least you don't have any neighbors that wake up to the melodious crowing at three in the morning when it's still dark. Like we do. Sorry, neighbors!

You have TWO roosters right now? Not good. Multiple roosters is bad news, what with their penchant for staging their very own unsanctioned cock fights. I assume one will be disposed of somehow soon?

  10. I just realized that I wrote a comment today on your Nov. 11, 2008 post! I asked an egg question. If you have time, could you look at it and help me out. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
