Saturday Dose of Cute: Weekend Plan

Keep cool. . .

And close to mom.

As for my own weekend plan, I haven't had a chance to chill out in my cool new retro chair yet, but I figure I still have a day and a half to fit in some serious shade time. The dishes are mostly done (how in the world can two people create thousands of dirty dishes?), the drooping kitchen garden has been watered (and even a little weeded!), and I think everyone's bellies are full—at least for now.

It's time to turn on the oven and bake up a big batch of chocolate chip cookies before roasting tonight's chicken—or else curl up and take a nap.

I hope you're having a relaxing weekend!

©, the siesta sounds good right about now foodie farm blog where, if she's not hanging out with Lucky Buddy Bear, this sweet Katahdin lamb—who almost always wears a little smile and is so friendly we named her Friendly—is stuck to her mama (who also adores Bear) like glue. Must be love glue.

  1. Great photos...I especially love the top one. They look so content...

  2. Your new sheep are fun indeed - that little smile is a charmer! Not sure I'd find it cooling to have one's baby lay practically on top of you in the shade but sheep have different rules of personal space don't they? You are a brave soul to be baking cookies and roasting a chicken - tonight seems more like a "use the barbecue grill" night with our weather!

  3. I love your photos. Reminds me of my childhood years when my brother had every animal in creation, much to the chaos of a home with eight children. Thankfully we lived in the country where my mother would throw us all outdoors and lock the door. Those were the days when children disappeared on the farm for the day and only returned to the house for meals.

  4. i know the feeling. :)
i did some yard work this week for the first time in awhile. satisfying, but lounging and grilling are also enjoyable!

  5. What a great photo! I am smiling and so is my husband who caught a glimpse over my shoulder.

Lately, I have fallen in love with smiling alpacas, happy goats, whimsical sheep, dinkeys and donkeys.

Your blog is a special place for city people to get back to the farm --even if it is just a few minutes. Thanks for taking the time to share your farm world.

  6. (Me smiling at the goat photos), I hope you got the cookies baked and then a nap!

  7. wish that was how i spent my weekend, alas not, we are waist deep in back to school prep.

    so content, they seem.

and why is it never to hot to bake chocolate chip cookies?

  8. They look so sweet together. I just can't get enough of the picture. I love it so much!

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
