Daily Farm Photo 8/21/06: Dreaming Up a Rainstorm

Our parched farm greedily soaked up an inch of much needed rain over the weekend. It's still thirsty.

  1. Phew! I'm glad the rain came. Let's hope it brings you a slightly cooler temperature. xx

  2. Beautiful photographs as always. As an artist, each one inspires me to sketch or draw it (don't worry, I don't use without asking). But perhaps you would grant me permission to use a photo of Cary to practice on? Your choice of course.

And I'm curious as to what type of camera that you use. Your photos are so crisp and clear and your timing impecable when it comes to catching the right moment with animals.

  4. No Doubt! We're having a drought over here in Ohio..Our lawns are beginning to look like Arizona landscaping! My poor Hastas are taking a beating, even though I've moved them to a more shady spot :(

  5. I recently read that a group of women in Nepal (?) stripped naked and plowed their fields in a ritual to make it rain. Are we that desperate yet?

  6. Ah, we got a pretty good rain in KC but ground still shows cracks. Man, we are still so far behind; haven't had to mow in weeks. Lovely nature photo, as always!

  11. I'm so glad you got more rain. Here in Washington state we've had the least rain on record ever for summer -- 0.07" all summer (so far). Fortunately we don't get baked like most of the rest of the country, but still . . . .

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
