Walk In The Woods
A year of Daily Photos ago:
Did you know you can store your potatoes in the garden?
And we've done it again this year. Just dug up some beautiful red potatoes that have been in the ground for months. So full of flavor they only needed to be scrubbed, cut up and boiled, sprinkled with salt, and smothered with organic butter. (Okay, the butter was unnecessary, but oh so good.) Leftovers were pan-fried until crisp in homemade lard and served hot with lots of salt. What a decadent and delicious treat!
Such a peaceful picture. Wish I was there!
ReplyDeleteI SO want to be IN that picture. Is that your driveway? Gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteI come here for a picture a day to keep the blues away!!
ReplyDelete"....the long and winding road...."...lovely

Oh,I want to wish Cary a happy belated birthday!!! She is such a precious little girl! And looking at your photo is such a nice respite for this time of the day, thanks Farmgirl!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture, and now you've got me craving potatoes! Will potatoes grow successfully in Zone 8?
ReplyDeleteI just spent two weeks with 10 teenagers from Northern Ireland and all they liked to eat (besides American junk food) was potatoes. One of the girls in the group was nicknamed potatoes!

The colours are awesome! I remember looking at pictures last year about this time and longing to be on your farm just for a day to soak in all that beautiful stuff.
ReplyDeleteI bet you jealously gaurd those potatoes! LOL
I would think that if your nickname is "Potatoes" in Northern Ireland then you must really eat a boatload of potatoes!!

ReplyDeletei too look each day for the picture, to "make my day", as my mother used to say. This pic looks too good to be true. I want to move there with ya'll.guess you know now i am from the south.
ReplyDeleteMy neck of the woods has just finished its open dialog with the calendar. The trees won and there is color. Finally, Autumn has come out to play. Your wonderful pics give me game plans for when I cheer on my trees. Go team.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo, and mouthwatering post. How long can you store the potatoes in the earth? Won't the hard frost get to them eventually and spoil them?
ReplyDeleteThe photo reminds me of a Robert Frost poem and wouldn't he have loved it, too!
ReplyDeleteNow I need to say this: I can't live without your blog! It's my first page I open in the morning when I start my computer. And I look at the pictures again and again and I'm working hard to find the house we are looking for very soon. With a lot of place for our animals we dream of. And my first act there after moving in will be: buy two sheeps (I already have names!). Can't wait...
