Try Not to Step on the Dog
© Copyright 2009 FarmgirlFare.com, the finally defrosted foodie farm blog where the flurry of snow photos will be stopping soon, right after we share a couple more of the favorites that have piled up—and then it's on to some new Less Fuss, More Flavor recipes. In the meantime, it sure was nice to spend the afternoon out and about after 14 days of being iced in—but after 15 stops in the pouring rain while driving the battered old farm truck (because the battery was dead as a doornail on the newer truck), it was even nicer to be safely back home on the farm.
Hi...I just found your blog, it's right up my alley(or country lane). I was raised on farms all my life, the saying is true;"You can take the girl off the farm but never take the farm out of the girl." We live on part of my husbands family farm now, 10 acres of it . Here in So. Utah it's VERY beautiful, lots of red rock, 15 min. away from a National Park. I love animals, I love to cook, been doing that since age 12. Make wonderful whole wheat bread etc. We have 8 children, all married now and 19 grandkids. Keep the home fires burning-thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI've heard stories about cow tipping, but dog tipping? I'm shocked.
ReplyDeleteThat Daisy is a hoot! I can't get over that she sleeps on her back - I tell my dog that "doggies don't do that" cuz he rolls on his back too, but I guess I'm wrong.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear your weather has improved enough to get outside (& work!) - it's supposed to get in the low 60s here today!!! Crazy, huh?
I'll never forsake my buddy Bear, but I have to admit, I'm falling a little bit in love with your new guardian, too. I always did have a weakness for huge, white, fluffy dogs.
ReplyDeleteI saw my pyrenees roll completely over on his back (like your next to last pic) for the first time last week...he was lying in the sun and rolled on his back and wiggled around for a couple minutes and then flopped down on his side. Really enjoy your blog!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute dog. I bet she loves her pet sheep (just like our dog loves her pet cats).
ReplyDeleteI love all of your animal photos! I grew up in the country and the love of country hasn't left me. Imagine my surprise last night as I sat down to read my new issue of Country Living magazine and opened it up to a page with really cute donkeys and farm girl Susan! Congratulations! Great article!
ReplyDeleteDaisy is too cute! My Mom trained their golden retriever to beg by laying on his back looking at you upside down with his paws crossed in the air above his head. Totally irresistable!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely cute pictures! I really don't know how you manage to get half of the things done that you do - between photographing all the animals and stopping to go ahhhh every so often when they do these adorable poses. You truly have the most photogenic animals, and it is excellent that you are so skilled at taken great shots of them. By the time I have found my glasses I have missed the picture. Thanks for the daily warm spot from the lovely pictures!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, but what I want to know is how is it that your sheep look so darn clean and cute and well groomed?
ReplyDeleteIs there a sheep salon I'm not aware of?
Total cuteness once again! Spring is coming. I am so waiting for the lamb report.
ReplyDeleteOMG that's adorable!!!! We should get some sheep for our golden retriever! ;)
ReplyDeleteMan, I just wanna snuggle up with that pup! She looks so cozy & content. :)
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and I'm loving it. We just moved out onto 5 acres and I dream of having a mini-farm. For now, I'm living vicariously through you and your photos!
That's a really sweet dog. Must be tired out from keeping a look out for those sheep all the time.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I came across your blog! I just love seeing the dogs interact with the animals, especially Daisy sleeping while the sheep are eating. That is true contentment!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be back, still wishing I lived on many acres like yours! :)
