She's Definitely More of a Sheep Dog (or a Sleep Dog) than a Sleet Dog
We won! Marta may not be smiling, but the rest of us are jumping for joy because Farmgirl Fare was voted Best Rural Food Blog in the 2008 Food Blog Awards! Many thanks to the judges, the Well Fed Network, and to all of you who voted for us. And a big congratulations to the other four finalists in the rural category: Chez Lou Lou, Whiteley Creek, (not so) Urban Hennery, and Lucullian Delights.
You'll find links to all the 2008 Food Blog Award winners here, and if you haven't already, be sure to check out the finalists in each category, too. Some of my favorite blogs were finalists but didn't win, including Karina's Kitchen, Organic to Be, Food Blogga, Simply Recipes, The Perfect Pantry, and Andrea's Recipes, which is home to Grow Your Own, the twice-a-month food blogging event that celebrates the dishes we create from foods we’ve grown, raised, foraged, or hunted ourselves.'
Thanks again for taking the time to vote—we couldn't have done it without you.

Congratulations; well deserved! I voted for you...several times!
ReplyDelete"the award-winning foodie farm blog" So happy to see that. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWOW what a photo! I would love to get a print signed by Marta.
XO
OMG
ReplyDeleteCary too. Now I cry.
Sleep DOg or Sleet Dog she may or may not be but she does not look like a happy dog today! Perhaps she is like me. Ready for spring.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!
WOW Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteOne Question though how in do you tell the sheep apart from another? and the dogs?? hehe
I guess if you see them every day it is easy.
Congrats on your winning! You have a interesting blog to read! I enjoy it !
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you! Well earned and well loved by so many!
ReplyDeleteIf you look too quickly, Marta definitely looks like 'one of the sheep.' Great photo.
Wll, OF COURSE you won. Congratulations! Now make sure to give Marta an extra treat for being such a diligent sheep-sitter.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Susan! I am a fan of your blog and am so happy that you won!
ReplyDeleteYay, I'm so glad you won and that I voted for the winning team (though I did find some new blogs to follow in the voting process, which is also good). Just wanted to say how much I love your blog and admire what you're doing...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Susan! I'm pouring over the seed catalogs now. It will be hard to top last years 42 tomato plants BUT I have enlarged the garden and it is hard to suppress that spring enthusiasm!
ReplyDeleteBravo Susan! You deserved to win!
ReplyDeletePuppies and lambs grow up to big dogs and ewes quickly! Love the facial expression Marta has.
ReplyDeleteOh yea - Congratulations on winning again! Can't get too much of a good thing I say!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to say... looking at pictures of Marta, I have to wonder what her coat is like. As someone who grew up with oodles of Kuvasz around, and traveling to dog shows, I'm more familiar with the Komondor than, say, your random passerby, but... I've never seen a crossbreed. What -is- her coat like? I just want to touch it! LQTM.
Congratulations! I voted for you - once. It wouldn't let me vote again.....
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan, and congratulations on your well-deserved win! I do so love your blog.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I just found your site and am hooked. Not surprised to see you have a graphic arts background (nice header!) Are you on FreedomGardens.org?
ReplyDeletecongratulations! that picture is absolutely adorable too!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! You deserve it! (I love today's pic!)
ReplyDeleteCongrats again, Susan! You know I voted for your awesomeness. I mean, without you, I wouldn't have blueberry breakfast bars or Swiss Chard dip or LAWDIE Tomato Pesto Pie.
ReplyDeleteBig winnah!
Big congratulations! Highly deserved!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Nobody deserves it more!
ReplyDeleteA big hug from Alabama!
Hi Everybody,
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the kind words and comments!
Hannah Elise,
Sorry for the delay answering your question. Marta's fur is very fine, very fluffy, very soft, very easy to get things like twigs and dirt and hay and little sheep manure pellets stuck in it, and very prone to matting. Marta is usually a mess! An adorable, you-can't-help-but kneel-down-and-give-her-a-big-hug-because she's-just-so-huge-and-cute mess, but a mess! : )
