  7. Hello From California.
I really enjoy your blog. I like to check in every couple of weeks to see what is happening on the farm. Today I tried visiting inmykitchengarden and my computer warned against malware from
Can you please look into this? Most people including myself don't want sites using a 'backdoor' to collect information.

  8. That is so sweet, she's snuggling little Gnat!

  9. come on little one - you have to exercise if you are going to grow up big and strong - eat more - it's good for you

  10. Is that bare space where the animals take a "chicken bath"? Do sheep do that?

  11. I love all your donkeys but he has to be the cutest of the lot..

  12. Looks like a classic "cut 'em off at the pass" maneuver to me. Lol She is a good mama!

  13. Hi Everybody,
So glad you enjoyed these photos. Thanks for taking the time to write! :)

    Hi Shannon,
Congratulations on making your country dream come true!

    Hi Jan,
Sheep don't take dust baths, but donkeys do! :)

    Hi Brenda,
Thanks for your note. I totally understand your concern. Unfortunately, with the limited information you provided, I'm not sure what is happening or how your computer is 'warning' you. Is this message in an ad? Is it popping up in its own window? The ad networks I belong to shouldn't be running any ads with pop up windows.

The warning you saw could be totally unrelated to my site.

I don't know anything about a 'backdoor' way to collect information. I personally don't collect any information from visitors, except the general information supplied to me from google analytics regarding how many visitors came to my site, where they came from (searches, referring sites, etc.) which of my pages the 'landed,' on, how long they visited, etc. This is common information that all bloggers 'collect' in order to make their sites better and to make readers' visits more enjoyable. When I look at those stats, I do not get any personal or identifiable information from visitors.

I forwarded your message to my tech genius pal, and this is what she said:

if you go to the URL, it gives you an advisory that resolves to

...which is all part of one of the security addons for a browser.

But I do not see the URL on the page of yours.

What the advisory page says is that something on the domain has issues, not that the link you had has issues. It's like the difference between, there's a snake in the yard and oh no, you got bit!

My low-tech brain doesn't quite follow all this, and while I am of course concerned, the bottom line appears to be that there isn't a problem with my site or with you visiting it. And I am definitely not using any 'backdoor' information collecting methods.

I do highly recommend that you have some sort of Internet security program running on your computer at all times. AVG has a really good one that is free. You can download it here.

  14. Brenda,
I've finally tracked down the source of the malware warning you were seeing on In My Kitchen Garden. It was coming from a garden blogroll widget I've had on my site for several years, but has apparently started having some trouble recently.

I've removed the widget and all of the code, so the problem should be completely fixed. If you see it again, clear out all the cookies on your computer so it will view the site 'fresh.'

Thanks again for taking the time to let me know about the problem. My apologies for any distress it may have caused you.

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
