Wednesday Farm Photo #2: Cock-A-Doodle-Doo!

This is the one rooster we did keep - isn't he a beaut?

  1. He is beautiful! I have only had one rooster in my small flock, and I named him Frasier after Frasier Crane on the TV show. The personality just seemed to fit.

  2. Cock o the Walk? Ready Freddy? I'm not a great namer of things - some of my favorite animals are named for candy bars! Guess if he is doing his job he could be Payday. Anyhoo - beautiful bird indeed - I like a rooster with the capelet effect feathers - sort of a James Brown homage.

  3. Our guy is named Zoltar, and was actually rescued from an animal shelter. By someone else. Who raised him in a house.

After coming here, it took him a while to figure out he belonged with the chickens instead of us, and he still comes to the back (sliding glass) door and knocks.

    Not kidding.

  4. He looks like a rooster I had as a kid that we named Ronald Reagan. That was one mean rooster, he terrorized my older sister. She wouldn't go near the chicken yard without a hoe or a big stick. Hopefully your rooster is better behaved & less likely to go into attack mode :)

  5. I'm a Clemson fan. Our arch rivals are the SC "Gamecocks". So liking chickens and roosters is a hard thing to admit - but man...He's beautiful! Is this one of Whitey's?

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
