Our Latest Defense Against The Coyotes
© Copyright 2008 FarmgirlFare.com, the award-winning blog where just because you're adorable doesn't mean you can't be scary, too - and one of the toughest things about farm life is knowing that you're not supposed to cuddle the livestock guard dogs.
Wait, wait. These two are for you to keep? Really? Oh how wonderful. What are their names? I can't wait to hear if they are successful at keeping the sheep safe. Bear can rest a little bit now.
ReplyDeleteOh...my...such cuteness! And such marvelous protectors they'll be! Come to think of it, I'm surprised you haven't tried specific herd protector type doggies before. I adore those dogs...any breed really...Maremmas...Anatolian sheepdogs...
ReplyDeleteFarmgirl, are you sticking with just the one breed? And how HARD it must be not to cuddle them!! :)
Oh goodness!! Ahahaha! They are adorable. I enjoy reading your blog very much, and I hope that these little fluff balls help fend off the coyotes.
ReplyDeleteAre they new residents? Look a tiny bit like Pyrenees. So is Lucky Buddy Bear getting some live in help now? Excited fans long to know.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh how cute! You'll have to tie your hands behind your back to not cuddle those little guys...it's hard to imagine anything being scared of them!

ReplyDeleteToo cute!! I would so have to cuddle them. Just a little though.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn
Those are the cutest! My youngest son is packing his bags, he is going to come and live with you!
ReplyDeleteYay! I always approve of more dogs. But you can assure Lucky Buddy Bear that he'll always be my favorite.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! We live next to a goat farm, where two Great Pyranees are on the job full time. Despite the fact that we have plenty of coyotes, our neighbor never loses goats to them. And another friend who raises sheep used to lose 5 or 6 a year to coyotes until she got a Maremma a few years ago, and she hasn't lost one since. I hope that this is the solution to your coyote problem!
ReplyDeleteHow very very cute indeed and how can you NOT cuddle them!!!
ReplyDeleteHOW ADOREABLE!!! How is Buddy Bear gonna take to these two??
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear their names and their story! Very cute.
ReplyDeleteOh boy. That WILL be tough not hugging those two "scary" looking balls of fluff.
ReplyDeleteSOOO much happening on the farm these days!!!!!
If they don't have names... I'm voting for Starsky and Hutch, before your mom gets to see them!
ReplyDeleteOH MY! Beautiful... Though like I have read they cannot be "pets". They are dynamite in "sheep clothing" -- and the predators don't like them!
ReplyDeleteAwwww. More baby animals, I think we might be in "cute overload" here. And how are you going to tell them apart!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear what you name them.
You must have an extremely strong will - I would crumble looking at those two little faces. Talk about "awwww" factor.
ReplyDeleteAre they Kuvaszok puppies? Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou are kiiling me here! They are beyond cute.
ReplyDeleteYes, do cuddly them. There is no reason not to at all. Just so they don't get confused, you want to do it in their working space.
ReplyDeleteI raise sheep and other critters, as well as having a LGD protector and an English Shepherd.
LGDs need love too. In case you don't know about it - lgd.org has some great resources as well as a wonderful list. I don't own shares or in anyway profit by posting that. But I've been very grateful to that list many times over.
Ok, lecture over - I'll go back to enjoying the blog :) .
